SOME MEMORIAL DAY HISTORY FOR YA...

Monday, May 29 is Memorial Day!

Did You Know?

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day to remember those who have died in our nation's service. After the Civil War many people in the North and South decorated graves of fallen soldiers with flowers.

The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873.

Decoration Day was proclaimed by General John Logan on May 5, 1868 and was first observed on May 30, 1868.
