Well, we’ve arrived in Venice and now is when the picturesque scenery really begins!! Well a different sort of picturesque....more like a street type, instead of nature. The entire city of Venice is on water and it’s amazing.
The captain was explaining that "Project Moses" (I took a few pics of it and hope they make it to my blog) is important because all year long, they are working to prevent total flooding of the beautiful city of Venice. This entails filling up the water with more dirt to hold and maybe make it harder for the water to get in towards Venice? I guess that’s what they are doing? I took a few pics of it.
Everyone on board seems really excited to be here. I’m having a bit of a sour stomach...think I’m just a bit overwhelmed with the beauty I’m looking at and hearing Pavarotti on the big screen on the Pool Deck, was really overwhelming for me. At one point, while waiting for the elevators, I felt myself crying inside. Sad, but a good cry, at least I’m alive!
Well, I’m going to put a pair of jeans on, download the pics I have of Venice so far off the ship and then hopefully by then the 3,000 passengers that are hurrying to get off, should be gone.
